John Homer "J.H." Smith

John Homer "J.H." Smith, age 81 of Demorest, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in White County, GA on September 05, 1931, he was a son of the late Paul and Annie Rose Warwick Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He was a retired Master Barber having worked over 50 years in the Habersham County and surrounding areas. He was also a farmer who enjoyed raising mules and coon hunting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Steve Smith; sisters, Pauline Wade and Fannie London; a great grandson, James Ronald Corn, III.
Survivors include wife of 60 years, Mildred Gudger Smith of Demorest; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Beverly Smith of Demorest, Doug and Debbie Smith of Mt. Airy and Brady and Mary Smith of Demorest; daughter, Sheila Jones of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Jeff Colbert of Demorest; brothers, Ray Smith and Henry B. Smith both of Demorest; sister, Pearl Banks of Demorest; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 3:00 pm Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Fairfield Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Allison and Rev. Shane Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Guy Lee officiating and full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720, American Legion Post #84, Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter #15 and the Georgia National Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm Saturday.
