Jimmy Gatheright

Mr. Jimmy Gatheright was called home at 9:00 PM on December 27, 2012.

Jimmy was born to the late, Vernon and Polly Ann Young Gatheright Watkins on April 3, 1945. He joined Flat Creek Baptist Church at an early age. He lived in Hartford, CT for 40 years and he moved back to Commerce in April of 2007.

Mr. Gatheright was married to his wife of five years, Elaine R. Gatheright of Commerce. In addition to his wife, he leaves to mourn his passing to three sons, Eric Gatheright of Commerce, Lemont Lowery of Springfield, MA, and Jimmy Gatheright Jr. of Hartford, CT; daughter, Aretha Hill(Silvester) of Commerce; three step children, Keelan Rucker of Commerce, Tiffany Kidd(David) of Jefferson, and Roderick Rucker(Theresa) of Gainesville; five grandchildren and five step grandchildren; three sisters, Paulette Smith of Gainesville, Essinlene Watkins and Kathlene Gillespie both of Athens; Three good friends whom he talked with everyday, Nelson, Leroy, and David Rucker, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.



Funeral service will be Sunday, Dec. 30 at 2:00 PM from Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Bailey and Rev. Kidd officiating with the interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 6-8 PM.
