Katie Lee Wheeler

Katie Lee Wheeler, of Cumming, GA, age 90, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 22, 2012.

Mrs. Wheeler was born in 1922, a native of Forsyth County. She lived fully and independently until very recently. Her interests included crocheting, sewing and gardening. Mrs. Wheeler was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was employed by Lockheed Corporation in Marietta before her retirement. She was also a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wheeler is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Edward Wheeler and her daughter, Judy Wheeler Chadwick.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Kutay of Gainesville; sister, Jamae Martin of Cumming; brothers, James Hammond of Dawsonville, Hugh Hammond of Cumming; granddaughters, Emily Gillum of Gainesville, Laura Harris of Cumming, LeAnn Schroyer of Lawrenceville; nephew, Michael Hammond of Cumming; four great granddaughters, including her special namesake, Katie Harris and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Bennett and Rev. Tony Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
