Carolyn Dixon Smith

Funeral Services for Carolyn Dixon Smith, age 90, of Clarkesville will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Hillside Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Lisa Graves, Rev. Robin Martin, and Mr. David Nix will officiate with interment to follow the service in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died peacefully Friday, December 21, 2012 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Born in Habersham County on October 1, 1922, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Sherman and Willa Mae Black Dixon. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of Clarkesville First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband Isaac Newton Smith and brothers Frank Dixon and Jerry Dixon.

Survivors include her daughter Sally Elrod and daughter and son-in-law Mandy and David Nix all of Clarkesville, brothers Dan Dixon (Audrey) of Clarkesville and Jack Dixon (Margaret) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, sisters Ellen Mooneyham (John) of Sautee, Nancy Anderson of Barnesville, grandchildren Megan Elrod McKinney (Rob) of Atlanta, Carrie Elrod of Clarkesville, and Sarah Nix of Asheville, North Carolina, and great granddaughter Fiona Maeve McKinney.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
