Evelyn Walden Farmer

Evelyn Walden Farmer, age 87, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012. She was preceded in death by: husband, Hulon F. Farmer; parents, Lee and Annie Walden; and brother, Robert Walden.

She is survived by: brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Bette Walden, Montgomery, AL, sister-in-law and husband, Catherine and Charles Bollinger of Eatonton, GA, nieces, Robin Powell of Dahlonega, GA, Elizabeth Anne Crittenden, Montgomery, AL, Betty Hyatt, Griffin, GA, Shirley Reeves, Tucker, GA, Norman Hyatt, Buford, GA, Brenda Coryell, Marietta, GA, Carlene Shields, Marietta, GA, Kathleen Wilkies, Grayson, GA, Jackie Graham, Buford, GA, Sonia Gann Lenz, Michigan and Treina Farmer, Auburn, GA; nephews, Charles Lee Walden, Richmond Hill, GA, Gary Farmer, Jasper, GA, Terry Farmer, Lawrenceville, GA, Bob Coryell, Little River, SC and many grand nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Farmer was born November 10, 1925 in Louisville, GA. Evelyn attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA and received a master's degree from the University of Georgia in Library Science. While working thirty-five years with the Gwinnett County Board of Education, she held positions as teacher and media specialist. She helped open North Gwinnett High School where she taught business education. However, she finished her career at Suwanee Elementary as Media Specialist. She retired from the Gwinnett County School System in 1985. Evelyn was a charter member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee, GA. Evelyn was a devoted wife and a caring, nurturing aunt. She loved books, editorials and current events and continued her pursuit of learning throughout her life. The Suwanee Community was her home and haven. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Linkous officiating. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Food Pantry at Shadowbrook Baptist Church, 4187 Suwanee Dam Road, Suwanee, GA 30024.
