Efford M. Bruce

Mr. Efford M. Bruce, age 69, of Dahlonega, GA died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his residence following a two year battle with ALS.

Efford was a native of Dawson County who had lived in Dahlonega for the past 33 years. He was a retired D.A. Guard at Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega. He was a member of Set Free Church in Dahlonega. Efford was a U.S. Army VietNam veteran.

Efford was the son of the late Len Howard Bruce and Grace Anderson Bruce and was also preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Bruce and Jimmy Bruce; and sister, Mary Boggs.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Davis Bruce, Dahlonega, GA; daughter, Melanie Jackson, Dahlonega, GA; sisters, Elda Gee and Kathy Anderson, both of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Ryan Gee and T.J. Bruce. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Rev. Marty Dunkerly and Rev. Scott McQueen will officiate.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, GA with military honors provided by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Thursday from 7 PM until 9 PM, all day on Friday, and on Saturday from 10 AM until 3 PM.
