Walter Jay Edwards

Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 12, 2012 in the Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. Walter Jay Edwards age 92 of Buford. Dr. Sondra Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Edwards passed away Sunday December 9, 2012.

Mr. Edwards was born March 15, 1920 in Hall County to the late Homer Floyd Edwards Sr. and Beulah Jay Edwards. He attended Lyman Hall High School and graduated in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a M/SGT with the HG Co 75th Infantry Division. He received the WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Service Ribbon, EAMET Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Croix DE Guerre Palm and Fourragere O Pres of Prov Govt Order 1286. He Graduated from the University Of Georgia in 1950. He retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 1983 after 23 years of service. He moved to Buford in 1995 and was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gainesville, Georgia.

Survivors include his Wife of 58 years Daisy Kohler Edwards, Children, Gwendolyn Edwards Douglas, Priscilla Edwards Davis, Charles Philip Edwards, 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
