Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. J.W. Skelton, age 86, of Jefferson, who passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012. Mr. Skelton was born in Jackson County, a son to the late Jurn and Lola Phillips Skelton. Mr. Skelton was a Maintenance worker for the Jefferson Mills, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Skelton's wife, Lois Skelton, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, Dennis Skelton, Charlotte, NC, daughter, Diane Rice, Jefferson, grandchildren, Scott Wilkes and Keith Wilkes, great grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor and Bailey Wilkes.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Shelton officiating. The burial will follow in the Jackson Memorial Park with Donald Phillips, Robert Phillips, Ricky Bryant, David Skelton, Howard Skelton and Scott Scaario honored as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-9pm at the funeral home.
