Elrige 'Duck' Baxter

Mr. Elrige "Duck" Baxter, age 83, of Commerce, GA died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Baxter was born in Commerce to the late Henry Gilbert and Clara Beard Baxter. He was a member of Erastus Christian Church and was retired from the United States Postal Service, Commerce office. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baxter was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Adams Baxter; brother, Mickey Baxter and sister, Hazel Minish.

Mr. Baxter is survived by his daughters, Debie Morris and Kay Bridges both of Commerce; son, Ted Baxter of Commerce; sisters, Elizabeth Stephenson and Dianne Chandler both of Commerce; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM, Sunday, November 25 at Erastus Christian Church with Mr. Billy Glosson and Mr. Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. At the family's request, flowers are optional or donations may be made to Erastus Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 2050 Neese Commerce Road, Commerce, GA 30530.
