Mary A. Dalton Tyler

Mrs. Mary A. Dalton Tyler, age 85 of Alto, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Banks County, Georgia on October 21, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Clayton & Ruby Gertrude Arnold Dalton. Mrs. Tyler worked with Carwood Manufacturing for many years and retired from Mt. Vernon Mills Corporation. A faithful Christian woman, Mrs. Tyler was also a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved all of her children unconditionally. Her most favorite hobby was going around to different yard sales. Mrs. Tyler was a member of the Alto Congregational Holiness Church and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her sister, AddieLee Dalton Skinner, infant granddaughters, Jessica Whitney Fowler, and Rebecca Jean Armour, great granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Tyler.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, James P. Tyler, Alto, GA; sons, James Loyd Tyler, Edward Lewis Tyler, both of Alto, GA; daughter and fiancé, Glenda T. Simmons & John Franklin, Homer, GA; Barbara T. Garrison & Charles Garrison, Alto, GA; brothers, J.R. Dalton, Eufaula, AL; Rev. Otis Dalton, Demorest, GA; sister, Winnie Mae Smith, Atlanta, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Betty & Doug Davidson, Homer, GA; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; & a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 from the Alto Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Leon Brown, Rev. Scott Ledbetter, and the Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
