Marie Rowland Canup

Funeral services for Marie Rowland Canup, age 83, of Clarkesville will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 23, 2012 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Austin Ivester and Rev. Gerald Lee will officiate with interment to follow the service at Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Canup died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Habersham Medical Center.

Born in Hiawassee on February 15, 1929, Mrs. Canup was the daughter of the late William "Will" C. and Margaret Sprinkles Rowland. Mrs. Canup retired from the finishing department of Scovill Fasteners, Inc. with over 40 years of loyal service. She attended Turnerville Church of God. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Canup is preceded in death by her husband Holman Canup, son in law Namon Ivester, granddaughter Rebecca Ivester, and half sister Effie Rowland.

Survivors include daughters Patsy Ivester of Turnerville and Donna Collins of Cleveland, sons Bruce Canup (Kathy), Billy Canup (Deana), Wendell Canup (Jeanette), and Travis Canup all of Clarkesville, sisters Betty Lovell (Robert) of Hollywood and JoAnn Goss (Bruce) of Clarkesville, as well as 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and prior to the service on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
