Charles W. Robocker

Obituary Date: Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Charles Warner Robocker, age 77, of Gainesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20th, 2012, at the Bell Minor Home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Charles was born February 27th, 1935 in Moncks Corner, SC. He was the son of the late Harry Erwin Robocker and Mary Ward Robocker. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1953 and from the University of Georgia in 1957. He had worked in the hardware business all of his life, first with Paris Dunlap Hardware, then, as owner of Britt Martin Hardware, and finally retiring from Chromate Industrial Hardware in 2006.

Charles was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he had served in many leadership positions over the years and where he taught Sunday School Classes. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Gainesville Elks Lodge. He truly enjoyed his hobby of cooking, as did his family and friends. He loved the First Monday Café Soup Day at St. Paul UMC. He worked at First Monday since it began eight years ago. He enjoyed greeting patrons and they loved his "cheddar cheese soup."

Charles, along with his wife Jene, had been a part of the Georgia Mountain Players for the past twenty years. He handled the box office duties for the players until his health prevented it.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Harry Robocker, Jr., his son Scott Robocker, and his in-laws Ralph and Thelma Mitchell.

Mr. Robocker is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Jeanette (Jene) Robocker, his daughter Cathy Robocker West (Mike) and grandsons Noah and Nicklaus of Modesto, CA. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Sloan Robocker, of Springdale, AR and Parkland, FL, grandson Alec Robocker (Rachel) and a great grandson Alister of Fayetteville, AR, granddaughters Cali and Haley Robocker, of Springdale AR and Parkland, FL, and brother, Ward Robocker of Orlando, FL.
The family wishes to thank the special caregivers at Bell Minor for their loving support during this trying time.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24th, 2012 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Reverend Calvin Haney officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund, 404 Washington Street, Gainesville, Ga. 30501 or the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, 2565 Thompson Bridge Road, Suite 114, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.
