A. J. Hubbard, age 87 of Cornelia, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Banks County on March 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Brass and Bessie Cambell Hubbard. Mr. Hubbard was retired from Fieldale as a tool sharpener and was a member of Silver Shoals Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hubbard was also preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Gosnell Hubbard; son, Thomas A. J. Hubbard; son-in-law, Jimmy Turpin; daughter, Amer Mattie Ethel Hubbard; granddaughter, Melissa Hubbard Gosnell Rodriguez; brothers, Fletch, Bud, William and Swaine Hubbard; sisters, Bessie Page, Eloise Burton, Winnie Arnold, Mattie Ethel Bonds.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Steve & Cathy Hubbard of Demorest, Donald & Rita Hubbard of Lula, Phil & Trinda Hubbard of Cornelia and Julius & Jane Hubbard of Demorest; daughter, Helen Turpin of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie & Lant Eller of Demorest and Emily & Kenneth Jones of Toccoa; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; sisters, Hettie Etris of Homer and Elizabeth Sukbert of South Carolina.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Friday, November 23, 2012, at Silver Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Perry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Wednesday.
