Obituary Date: Saturday, November 17, 2012
Emmett Richmond Gaddy, age 89 of Gainesville, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 19, 2012 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Monday, November 19, 2012 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Gaddy was born on February 24, 1923 in Asheville, NC to the late William Hardy Gaddy and the late Mabell Gay Taylor Gaddy. He served four years in the United States Army. Mr. Gaddy was retired from Merritt Construction as a heavy equipment operator and he was a member of New Haven Congregational Holiness Church. He is preceded in death by his sons, Michael William Gaddy and Phillip James Gaddy.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Gaddy of Gainesville; daughter, Jean Ann Chandler of Gainesville; daughter, Alice Gaye Gaddy of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Joan and David Harkins of Gainesville; son, Geoffrey John Gaddy of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, E.G. and Kelly Seagraves of Gainesville; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jo Reed of Pendergrass; sister, Molly Loggins of Dahlonega; sister, Helen McDonald of Dahlonega; sister, Eva Jane Osbourne of Carnesville and brother, Ernest Gaddy of Lula.
He was very loving, caring and giving man. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a big passion for hunting and fishing. A God fearing man that was loved by everyone who knew him.
