Jo Ann Taylor

Jo Ann Taylor, 79, of Gainesville died Friday, November 16, 2012 in her home at Lanier Village Estates. Jo Ann was born January 19, 1933 in McKees Rock, PA, the daughter of Harry Eason and Mildred Bubb Curtis.

Graduating from South Side High School in Ft. Wayne, IN, Jo Ann studied at Indiana University, Wisconsin University, and Southern Illinois University. Her disciplines were science, language and sociology. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Jo Ann was a nursing assistant for ten years at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Primarily she was a homemaker, the mother of three children, Kathryn, Elizabeth and John. Jo Ann loved to travel with her family

In the course her life Jo Ann moved 33 times and lived in many places across the American continent. She has made Gainesville her home since 1976. Jo Ann worked for a number of years as an accountant with H&R Block in Gainesville. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Oakwood and most recently, Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville. Jo Ann was strong in faith and faithful to the church.

Jo Ann had a penchant for bridge. For many years she was Director of the Lanierland Bridge Club, where she developed many friendships. Jo Ann continued playing duplicate bridge with Lanierland after moving to the Lanier Village retirement community, where she organized bridge-playing events among the residents. Jo Ann was conversant, well-read, and lived an active social life. She has left a legacy of love, laughter, and friendship.

Jo Ann is survived by her three children, Kathy, Beth and John Stege; by her brother, John Curtis (Anne); and by several nieces and nephews.

A Service of Celebration for the Life of Jo Ann Taylor will be held in the Chapel of Lanier Village Estates, 4000 Village View Dr., Gainesville, on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 4 P.M. with Fr. Dean Taylor and Fr. Frank Richardson officiating.
