POOLE, TRUMAN PORTER JR. of Buford, GA passed away on November 16, 2012, at the age of 79, after a long battle with atypical Parkinson's Disease.
Truman is preceded in death by his parents Truman Porter Poole, Sr. and Helen Hudnall Bullard Poole of Atlanta, GA.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Burroughs Poole, son, Truman Porter Poole, III and daughter-in-law Leslie Jolley Poole, Cumming, GA; daughter, Laura Poole Hess and son-in-law James E. Hess, Buford, GA; grandchildren, Meagan Elizabeth Hess, Morgan Nicole Hess, Natalie Marisa Poole and Alexander Mitchell Poole; twin brother, Norman E. Poole and sister-in-law Marilyn Jones Poole, Conyers, GA as well as sister-in-law Nelda Burroughs Johnson and brother-in-law, Herman Lee Johnson, Albertville, AL and brother-in-law, Jack Wesley Burroughs, Franklin, TN and many nieces and nephews.
Truman was born in Atlanta, GA but spent his childhood in Tifton, GA. At age 13, his father was transferred to Columbus, GA. After graduating from Columbus High, he attended Auburn University where he received a degree in Business Administration. He went into U. S. Army Finance Corp for two years. He returned to Atlanta to begin his working career with Life of Georgia (now known as ING) for 32 years, retiring in 1992.
Truman was a Christian, ordained as a deacon at Mountain Park 1st Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, GA where he was a member for about 25 years. After living in Lilburn, GA for 25 years, he and Nancy then moved to Buford, GA in 1997 to help take care of grandchildren. He and Nancy are members of First Baptist Church of Buford where he was a greeter until he was unable to walk and stand easily.
