John R. Davis

Mr. John R. Davis, 85 of Gainesville died Thursday November 15, 2012 at his residence.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Sam R. and Ruth Greene Davis. Mr. Davis had lived in Hall County since 1998 and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the retired owner and operator of Aero Enterprises and was a member of the Optimist Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mr. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church on Green Street.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frankie Davis, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law; Donna and David Blount, Dawsonville; grandson, Dr. Zachary Blount, Lansing, Michigan; grandson and wife, Captain Jonathan and Rosa Blount, Charleston, South Carolina; great grandchildren, Jordan and Xavier Blount, Charleston, South Carolina and Taylor and Bailey Blount, Dawsonville; niece, Ginya Dery, Vero Beach, Florida; nephew, James N. Sikes, Jr., Knoxville, Tennessee.

Mr. Davis is preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas A. Blount; sister, Louise Royer and brother, Edgar A. Davis.

Memorial services will be held Sunday November 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church on Green Street. Dr. Bill Coates and Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Ministry of Caring at the First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Ga. 30501 or Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Home Instead Senior Care for the compassion and care shown to Mr. Davis.
