Nell Bowen Couch, age 85 of Buford, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
She was born in Gainesville, GA to Broadus and Tennie Kanaday Bowen on April 23, 1927. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Couch, grandson, Wayne Couch, daughter-in-law, Jenny Couch, and sister, Mary Kitchens. She is survived by her son, Ronny Couch of Young Harris, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Gilda Couch of Buford, GA and daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Marty Davis of Buford, GA; granddaughters and their husbands, Jody and Van Parker of Hoschton, GA, Alicia and Jamie Payne of Winder, GA, and granddaughter, Molly Davis of Buford, GA; her sister, Ethelene Mooney of Gainesville, GA; sister-in-law, Lou Westmoreland of Gainesville, GA, sister-in-law and husband, Carolyn and Marvin Bruce of Atlanta, GA, brother-in-law, Vernice Couch of Gainesville, GA, and brother-in-law and wife, Burlon and Blanche Couch; five great grandchildren, Caleb Parker, Noah Parker, Hannah Parker, Aidan Payne and Adrian Payne; many nieces and nephews; and a host of many friends.
Nell and her husband, Alvin, owned and operated grocery stores in Flowery Branch and Buford for more than 30 years. They enjoyed and valued the many relationships they built with loyal customers over the years. Nell was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and loyal friend. She was always faithful to her church and family. Nell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buford and the Joy Sunday School Class. In her earlier years, she taught Sunday School and was actively involved in WMU at First Baptist Church Buford and Flat Creek Baptist Church in Oakwood, GA. She enjoyed the simple things in life including her daily Bible reading, prayer time and making a home for her family. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone that knew this wonderful Christian lady.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Johnson and Dr. Joe Vernon officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Eagle Ranch, P.O.
