Leila B. Hammond

Leila B. Hammond, 68, of Commerce passed away Sunday October 28, 2012 at Northridge Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born March 1, 1944 in Dawson County to the late Toy and Carrie Nell Bishop, she lived a number of years in Marietta and Homer. Leila was formerly employed by the Georgia Game and Fish Commission and was a member of Homer Alliance Church. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Everette Bishop, Paul Bishop and Robert "Buddy" Bishop.

Surviving are her sister and brother in law, Eleanor and William "Bill" Bishop, Palm Coast, FL; brother and sister in law, Billy and Cathy Bishop, Commerce; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 31, 2012 at 11 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Dave Cornelius and Missionary James Joransen will officiate. Interment will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
