Lewis A. Davenport, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Friday October 26, 2012 at Gold City Nursing Center following a period of declining health.
Born June 24, 1928 in Fannin County to the late Tate and Essie Davenport, he lived most of his life in Dawson County. Mr. Davenport was a retired poultry farmer. After his retirement he enjoyed working at Burt's Pumpkin Farm and gardening. An ordained Baptist minister, he pastored Full Fellowship Church in Marble Hill. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Adell Foster Davenport; son, Kenneth Davenport; and brother, Herbert Davenport.
Surviving are his children, Harold and Mary Lou Davenport, Hubert and Shirley Davenport, Cathy and Jerry McClure, Brenda and Phil Green, all of Dawsonville; sisters and brother in law, Evelyn Foster, Dahlonega, Darlene and Ray Jones, Dahlonega; brothers and sister in law, Leamon Davenport, Dahlonega, Ernest and Margie Davenport, Union Point; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday October 29, 2012 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Chester, Rev. Phillip Burt and Rev. Bradley Cain will officiate. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
