Wardell Lewis

Obituary Date: Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Wardell Lewis passed away Wednesday, October 17th 2012 at the Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA, due to an illness. Wardell "Good Time" Lewis was a friendly spirited and outgoing person loved by many.

Wardell was born February 1st 1940. He was the son of the late Mr. Robert and Catherine Cade Lewis and Ira (Sonny) Banks. At an early age, he joined Hunter's Chapel A.M.E. Church in Elberton, GA. He attended Blackwell High School in Elberton, GA. In 1958 he married Betty Ann Lyles. He was employed at Granite City before moving to Gainesville, GA in 1964. He was also employed at Morrell's Poultry, Georgia Power, Adams Transfer and MarJac, Inc. for several years until his health failed him. His quality of life continued on for 18 years then God called him home.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Torrey Lewis. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Betty Lewis, four children: Debbie (Louis) Perry of Columbus, GA, Sherry (Donald) Maddox of Gainesville, GA, Darry (Eleni) Lewis of Germany, Kristy Lewis of Decatur, GA, two sisters: Betty Tate of Elberton, GA and Ethelene Andrews of Hiram, GA, six brothers: Thomas (Phyllis) Lewis of Elberton, GA, James (Sandra) Lewis of Atlanta, GA, Eddie (Sabina) Lewis of Germany, Harold Lewis of Elberton, GA, Charles (Queen) Lewis of Crawford, GA, Mack (Maggie) Lewis of Stone Mountain, GA, three sister-in-laws: Mary Lyles Elmira of New York, Joann L. Jones of Gainesville, GA, Barbra Lewis of Hartwell.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October, 27, 2012 at 11am at Trinity CME Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home from 6-7pm. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home.
