Elmer Nathaniel Watkins

Elmer Nathaniel Watkins, Jr., age 89 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Watkins was born June 1, 1923 in Parsons, Pennsylvania to the late Elmer Nathaniel Watkins, Sr. and Belle Reese Watkins. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Florida Power & Light as an Electrical Engineer, where he was responsible for MIA (Miami International Airport). Elmer was a Georgia Tech graduate, then moved to Miami, Florida and lived there for 59 years before moving to Gainesville.

Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife, Kathryn Watkins of Gainesville, sons & daughters-in-law, Charles & Carola Watkins of Germany, Stanley & Christine Watkins of Tampa, Florida and Harry & Dawn Watkins of Gainesville and 6 grandchildren.
