Edith Marie Sellers Welch

Edith Marie Sellers Welch, age 89, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.



Mrs. Welch was born on May 1, 1923, in Franklin, North Carolina; daughter of the late Samuel Oscar and Gladys Marie Waldroop Sellers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Odell Welch; son, James Michael Welch; brother, Joseph Reid Sellers; and grandmother, Sally Althea Waldroop. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Franklin, North Carolina. Mrs. Welch was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.



Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Gail Drake, Alto, GA; sons, Ed Fitzgerald, Charlotte, NC and Glenn Fitzgerald, Covington, GA; sister, Katherine Elizabeth Curtis, Valdosta, GA; brother, Samuel Vance "Bill" Sellers, Franklin, NC; grandchildren, Kevin Chambers, Missie Winter, Chad Fitzgerald, Shawna Fitzgerald Cope, Daniel Stewart-Fitzgerald, and Amanda Stewart-Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Caroline Winter, Courtney Winter, Evan Fitzgerald, Owen Fitzgerald, Allison Cope, and Emily Cope; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with Rev. Glenn Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the funeral home.
