James Pruitt Akin, 80, of the Red Hill community, husband of Betty Akin, passed away Thursday evening, at Heritage Healthcare of Toccoa, GA.
Born November 10, 1931, he was a son of the late Joseph Edwin and Gazelle South Akin. He was a brother of the late Dean, Hubert, and Dan Akin. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War. He was a retired welder for the Reliance Company. He was a member of Allens United Methodist Church.
Survivors include, his wife, Betty Wood Akin, son and daughter-in-law, James and Kelly Akin, Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Keith Hall, Flowery Branch, GA; four grandchildren, Justin, Ansley, Alyssa, and Drew; brother, Morris Akin, Carnesville, and sister, Ann Mills, Salisbury, MD.
Funeral Services will be 4pm Saturday afternoon at the B. D. Ginn Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Ray. Interment will be in the Allens United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family is at the home. They will receive friends from 3pm until 4pm Saturday prior to the service.
