David Eugene Whaley, 43, of the Hudson River Community of Commerce, passed away Thursday evening, October 4, 2012, at the Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born April 1, 1969, in Decatur, GA, he was the son of Clara Rena Frady Hudler, and the late Bruce Eugene Whaley. He was an Eagle Scout, and an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and gardener. He had been a cook at Zaxby's and Goodfellow's of Commerce, and Denny's of Norcross, and a machinist at Whaley's Machine Shop. He presently was a machinist at Kabota of Jefferson, GA.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Clara Rena Frady and Bobby Hudler, of Martin, Georgia; his daughters, Samantha Sanders of Commerce, and Nacole Sanders, Nicholson, GA; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Stephen and Kerri Whaley, of Carnesville, GA and Doug and Buffie Whaley, of Commerce, GA; nieces and nephews, Allison, Chance, Cheyenne, Dawson, Megan, and Will; step-mother Michell Whaley, Norcross.
A memorial service will be held 7pm Wednesday evening at the B. D. Ginn Memorial Chapel with Leigh Eason officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7pm Wednesday evening prior to his service.
