John Duncan Farris, MD

Duncan was born in Blackford, Kentucky the son of the late Dr.& Mrs. Jacob Farris.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Thomas Farris. He is survived by his wife of 65 years -Rachael "Binky", his brother -Dr. Hansford Farris, a son -Bill Farris (Shirley), two daughters-Carol Barber (Dean)- Gigi Holland (Keith), five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Duncan was an Eagle Scout and served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was the first OB-GYN in Waycross, GA and practiced medicine for 23 years.
Duncan and Binky raised their family in Waycross and traveled throughout the US in their small airplane. Later they traversed the eastern waterways on the OB I, II, & III.
They retired to Savannah, St. Simons, Brunswick, Cumming and finally Gainesville, GA.
After a brief illness, Duncan is now resting in his Heavenly home.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Lanier Village Estates, 3700 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30506 with Chaplain Rev. Richard Evans officiating.
