James David McMillian

Mr. James David McMillian, age 65, of Gillsville, GA and formerly of Dacula, GA passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. A. and Kathryn Robertson McMillian; brother, John B. McMillian; and father-in-law, Lester Melton.

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Dianne McMillian, Gillsville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, William David and Penny McMillian, Greenwood, IN; grandchildren, Eli, Hannah, Lillie and Sammi McMillian; sisters and brothers-in-law and brothers and sisters-in-law, Wylene and Robert Mosley, Buford, GA, William and Judy McMillian, Tennessee, Wyatt and Anita Henson, Douglasville, GA, Elaine and Ricky Cannon, Auburn, GA and A. B. and Kim McMillian, Lawrenceville, GA; mother-in-law, Nuel Melton, Buford, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna and Ray Williams, Buford, GA, Cheryl and Kenny Hall, Gillsville, GA and Janice McMillian, Lawrenceville, GA; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Mr. McMillian was born October 9, 1946 in Duluth, GA. He was a 1964 graduate of Dacula High School in Dacula, GA where he played on the first football team and was a four-year letterman in baseball and basketball. He was retired from Dykes Paving Company as an asphalt superintendent to enjoy farming and breeding horses. He was a Dacula Athletic Association coach in baseball, basketball and football for a number of years. He was a mentor to many special young men.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dianne McMillian, 2500 Ivy Creek Road, Buford, GA 30519 for medical expenses.
