Verdell Wofford, age 83, of Gainesville died Friday, Oct. 5,2012 at her home.
Mrs. Wofford lived most of her life in Gainesville. She worked many years as a parapro for Gainesville City Schools. She was also the nanny for the children of Drs. Karen and Zack Dillard for 12 years. She loved and cared for this family like her own and soon became a part of their family. Nathan, Nicholas, Rachael, and Rebecca will hold her forever in their hearts.
Mrs. Wofford is survived by her daughter and son in law, Janice and Wallace Pruitt, and daughter, Lesa Meffert; three grandsons, Wally Pruitt and his wife, Laurie, Joseph Pruitt, and Will Meffert; two great-grandchildren, Erin and Hugh Pruitt; sisters, Connell Reeves, Lois Bryan, Charlotte Bryan and husband Lee, Jessie Couch and husband Arnold, Dessie Miller and her husband Phil; one brother John Long; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Wofford was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Lewis Wofford, her mother, Lillie Gaugh, her father, Floyd Long, and her brother, Jim Long.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Georgia Hospice or The American Cancer Foundation.
A private family memorial service will be held.
