W.L. "Dub" Ravan

W.L. "Dub" Ravan, 89, of 8302 Belton Bridge Road, Lula, GA was called home on September 29, 2012 while surrounded by his loving family.

"Dub" was born in the foothills of Lumpkin County where he met and married Myrtleen Rogers 70 years ago July 30,1942. Shortly after being wed he was sent to the Pacific to serve in the army during World War II, where he did tours in Australia, New Guinea, and Hiroshima, Japan. After returning home he became a poultry farmer and school bus driver in the North Hall area for 32 years. He was a wonderful and loving man, who loved driving his tractor and working in his garden.He was a happy soul and every one who met him loved him. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Dollie Ravan from the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church area of Lumpkin County. Sister Lola Hulsey, brother, Ernest Arthur, and David Ravan all of Hall County.

He is survived by his loving wife and devoted helpmate of 70 years Myrtleen Ravan, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Marvin Wiley, Wayne and Diane Ravan, son Roger Ravan and special friend Joyce Dills, daughter, Jan Ravan all of Lula. Granddaughters and Grandsons-in-law : Kim and Terry Hollingsworth, Andrea and Shannon Gilbert, Granddaughter, Brandie Ravan. Great-Grandchildren: Chelsea, Jade, and Triston Hollingsworth, and Loden Ravan all of Lula. Along with many loving nieces and nephews and many very kind and Thoughtful neighbors.

Visitation will be October 1, 2012 at Strickland Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. October 2, 2012 in Strickland Funeral Home Chapel. Strickland Funeral Home, Clermont.
