COL Michael David Pyott, 46 of Gainesville died Friday September 21, 2012.

Born in Dover, Delaware, COL Pyott had lived in Hall County for the past 4 years. COL Pyott had served in the U.S. Army since 1988. He had served as the Professor of Military Science at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega from 2008 until 2012, and had just recently been named the Director of the BB&T Center for Ethical Business Leadership.


Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday September 26, 2012 at the Northlake Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Jones, Rev. Quentin Self and Chaplain Dan Rice will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the Northlake Baptist Church on Tuesday September 25, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the North Georgia College and State University Foundation, c/o Corps of Cadets, P.O. Box 1599, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533 and please make checks payable; North Georgia College and State University Foundation Corps of Cadets.

Survivors include his wife; Meredith Pyott, Gainesville; daughter, Olivia Pyott, Gainesville; son, Luke Pyott, Gainesville; mother and father, Mary and George Pyott, Dover, Delaware; sister and brother-in-law; Mardi and Harold Spangler of Dover, Delaware and their daughter, Marina.
