Waverly "Wig" Parris

Mr. Waverly "Wig" Parris, age 87, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Nancy Adams Parris. He is survived by his son, Greg Parris, Flowery Branch, GA; daughters and son in law, Jennifer and John Olmstead, Norcross, GA and Jayne Dehaan, Seattle, WA; and sister, Mildred Ingrassia, New York, NY.
Mr. Parris was born November 15, 1924 in Elizabeth, NJ. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and the Korean War. He received his Master's Degree from the University of Iowa in 1953. He was retired from the Menominee Falls School System in Wisconsin as a social worker after twenty-four years of service. He was an amateur racecar driver in Wisconsin and still holds many course records. He was educated to be a "hypnotist."
A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with Chaplain Ralph McCann officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local United Way in memory of Waverly Parris.
