Redden Franklin Brinkley

Redden Franklin Brinkley, MSG, USA, Ret., 74, of Dahlonega, Georgia passed away, Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Union County Nursing Home, Blairsville, Georgia.

He was a 26 year veteran of the United States Army, where he did 2 tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved anything from the Western Years, gardening and traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Graham and Bertie Brinkley; wife, Frieda Brinkley.

He is survived by his children, Herman and Sandra Brinkley of Norton, VA, David and Pam Brinkley of Dahlonega, GA, Diane and Stuart Lawrence of Salisbury, MD, Brenda and Tony Abee of Conyers, GA.; sisters and brothers, Mollie and Clarence Philyaw, James and Carolyn Brinkley, Kenneth Brinkley, Bobby Brinkley, Graham Brinkley, Jr.; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at the Dahlonega Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt Hope Cemetery, Dahlonega, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
