Mildred George Howell

Mildred George Howell, age 92, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away while in hospice care at UniHealth-Brookhaven, Monday, September 17, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Ralph Cullen Howell, and also by her daughter Janice Moxley.

Mildred was born and raised in Atlanta. She attended Girls High in Atlanta where she was a member of the basketball and volleyball teams. Mildred was employed by BellSouth while her husband was away at war. In addition, she was very involved with the school system. She was a teacher at Annie E. West Elementary School, served as a substitute teacher, and was also the President of the PTA. Mildred was a past member of Martha Brown United Methodist Church in East Atlanta, and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Marietta.

Survivors include her son, Bobby Howell and wife Rita; sister, Barbara Duren; grandchildren, Jay Bowlin, great-grandchild John; Jamie Mutter and husband Christopher, great-grandchildren Reese and Campbell; Julie Parish and husband Brian, great-grandchildren Katelyn, Caleb and Colby; Chad Howell and wife Ruth, great-grandchildren Ainsley and Ariel.

The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 22 at 11:00 am, in the Chapel of McDonald & Son Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive family and friends from 10:00
