James (Jim) Gerald Dotson

Obituary Date: Saturday, September 15, 2012
Mr. James (Jim) Gerald Dotson age 66 of Flowery Branch passed away on Saturday September, 15, 2012 at Cartersville Heights Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday September 19, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with internment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. Dr. Gerald Atkins, Reverend Clack Stubbs, Reverend Stacy Phillips, Reverend Mike Walston will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday September 17, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. - 6:00- 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday September 18, 2012 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Dotson was born on August 6, 1946 in Lee Junior, Kentucky to the late Ike Vess Dotson and Frances Templin Dotson. James was a retired truck driver for Lanier Transportation. He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Beulah Thompson, and his sister-in-law, Kay Dotson. Jim had a long 30 year battle with his sickness. He fought with courage, future and faith, his smile and the love for his family kept him fighting for years. All you had to do was ask him about his wife and his family and that kept him going. Jim was proud of his country and served in the United States Army for 4 years. One of those years was in Vietnam, while he was there he contacted Agent Orange, but till his last breath he said he would do it all over again and serve his country. He will be missed and his faith will live on through his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Becky Dotson of Flowery Branch, daughter and son-in-law, Christi and Byron Burger of Lake City, Tn, son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Donna Dotson of Flowery Branch, grandchildren, Nicole Wilson of Oakwood, Jason Peck of Flowery Branch, Brandon Peck of Flowery Branch, Corbin Dotson of Flowery Branch, Great- Grandchildren, Kylie Wilson of Oakwood, Kendall Wilson of Oakwood, brother, Ikie Dotson of Clinton, Tn, sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Clyde Edgeman of Andersonville, Tn
