James Robert Cochran

Obituary Date: Thursday, September 13, 2012

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2012 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home for James Robert Cochran, 63, of Gainesville. The

Rev. Stacey Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born in Lumpkin County, James had been a resident of Hall County all his adult life. James was a good man. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. He took 3 kids in as his own. He was a loving husband and daddy. He worked at Vintage Homes for 15 years and then worked for Vulcan Materials for 23 years. While at Vulcan Materials, he was a recipient of many awards, safety, attendance, employee of the year just to name a few.

He helped and took young people in when needed. Nurtured and guided them until they were ready to return back to their homes or stand on their own feet. Many still call him daddy today.

James wasn't a church going man, but he communicated and worshiped his Lord sitting in his front yard swing loving and protecting his grandchildren as they crossed the street, coming from and going to church at Pine Crest Baptist.

James was a private man who didn't like to be in a crowd, which is odd because he married a woman who came from a family of 16 children, who all loved and respected James greatly.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Reubin and Connie Gooch Cochran and brother, Johnny Cochran, brothers in law, Bob Jones, Johnny Trusty.

James is survived by his wife, Barbara Pressley Cochran; sisters and brothers in law, Janice and Stanley Black, Janie and Vernon Robinson, Frankie Jones of Clearwater, FL, Helen and Steve Herrington, Frances and Mondell Williams, Mary Ann Trusty; daddy's kids, Christina Blake, Diana Lilly (adopted when her father passed), Robert Blake, Allison Blake Dale, Daniel Blake, Beth Blake, Sandy Martin, (adopted in his heart), Jeremy Martin, (adopted in his heart), Sandra Hewell, (adopted in his heart), Sharron Cochran Johnson; grandkids, Brittany Johnson, T.C. Fowler, Dylan Blake, Bubba Johnson, Skylar Blake, Brandon Johnson, Cheyenne Fowler, Dakoda Blount, Andrew Dale, baby Blake, Loralie Blake, Zach Elam, (adopted in his heart), Jordan Welch, adopted, Caleb Brown, Kailey Blackburn, Aydenn Martin, adopted; multiple nieces and nephews; to many to list.
