Wendell Freeman

Mr. Wendell Freeman, age 88, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Sally Gibbs Freeman; parents, Hinton and Avie Gunter Freeman; brother, Claude Freeman; and sister-in-law, Virginia Reed Freeman. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Howell and Janet Freeman, Montevallo, AL and Joe and Alice Freeman, Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Jeff Freeman, Savannah, GA, Andrew Freeman, Lawrenceville, GA, Austin Freeman, Lawrenceville, GA, Hunter Freeman, Montevallo, AL and David and Rachel Freeman, Alabaster, AL; great grandchildren, Sophie Freeman, Yvaine Freeman, Kaitlin Freeman and Kyle Freeman; brother, Darroll Freeman, Cedartown, GA; sisters-in-law, Tibbie Tolbert, Lawrenceville, GA and Mary Ann Freeman, Dawsonville, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Freeman was born July 10, 1924 in Buford, GA. He was a 1942 graduate of Sugar Hill School in Sugar Hill, GA. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served in the 69th Infantry and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from Nabisco Company in Atlanta, GA after forty-four years of service. He was a member of the Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge No. 131 F&AM. Mr. Freeman was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, GA where he was a former Trustee. He loved his God, his Country and his family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, GA with Pastor Eddie Herring officiating. Interment will follow in the Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors and a Masonic Graveside Service. Honorary Escort will be the Masons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Flowers accepted or memorial donations may be made to Footprints for the Future, c/o Prospect United Methodist Church, 1549 Prospect Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30043 in memory of Wendell Freeman.
