Richard "Dick" Lee Gabbert

Richard "Dick" Lee Gabbert of Cleveland passed away Sunday Sept. 9, 2012 at his residence. He was 78.

Born in Des Moines, IA on June 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Eddie and Marjorie Gabbert. Mr. Gabbert began his lifelong career in Industrial Design as a salesman and designer at Freeman Decorating in Des Moines. IA. He was previously president of Exhibits Houston, Exhibit Group of Houston and Atlanta and currently CEO of Exhibit Solutions. He was a volunteer mentor at Boys Club of America in Des Moines, IA. He was a volunteer with Enotah CASA in Northeast Georgia. He was an artist and a musician, and enjoyed traveling. He was a compassionate man who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland.

Mr. Gabbert was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Marjorie Gabbert of Des Moines, IA; a brother, Donald Gabbert of Des Moines, IA; and a son, Thomas Alan Gabbert of Des Moines, IA. Survivors include his loving wife, Jan Hiers Gabbert of Cleveland, GA; a daughter, Sheryl Lynn Howard of Des Moines, IA; a sister, Susie Clark, of Des Moines, IA; a step-daughter and son-in law, Catherine Leigh and Jeff Loggins of Gainesville, GA; four grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Cleveland First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
