Douglas Wilbanks

Mr. Douglas Wilbanks, age 66, of Homer, GA died quietly and peacefully from complications of lung cancer on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Wilbanks was born in Commerce, GA to the late Parks and Dannie Lee Benton Wilbanks. He was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from the construction industry.

Mr. Wilbanks is survived by his wife, Jo Cotton Kesler Wilbanks of Homer, GA; son, Tracey Wilbanks of Jefferson; brother, Ken Wilbanks of Commerce; and one granddaughter. Doug was best friends to Jo's two children, Randy Kesler (Teresa) and Jennifer Waldsmith (John). He was grandfather to their children; Evan and Taylor Kesler, Daniel McElroy and Joi and James Waldsmith; and one great-grandchild, Irie Rose McElroy.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM, Wednesday, September 5 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Dr. Brian Stowe and Rev. Marty Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Grove Level Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 5 to 8 PM.
