Jessie D. Wade, age 81 of Homer, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Banks County on August 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Solmon and Ida Belle Dodd Wade. Mr. Wade was a former crew leader at Temple-Inland and also a bus monitor for Banks County Schools. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by grandson, Adam Wade; brothers, Olin, Davidson, and James "Jimmy" Wade; sisters, Annie Lee Teague and Vera McQueen.
Surviving are wife of 57 years, Eloise Parson Wade of Homer; sons, David Wade of Banks County and Danny Wade of Bowman, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight & Jean Wade and Derek & Lisa Wade all of Homer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eva & Marty Wade of Gainesville, Lois & M. L. Grindle of Lula and Velina & Grady White of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Mary Davidson of Demorest Irene & Gerald Griggs of Anderson, SC, Bonnie & Eddie Marchbanks of Clarkesville, Vickie Thomas of Woodstock, Debbie & Walter David of Homer and Mary Parson of Banks County; brothers-in-law, Bud McQueen of Gainesville and Jack Parson of Warner Robins; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are 2:30 pm Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Lamar Purcell and Rev. James Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Baptist Church cemetery full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and Georgia National Guard Funeral Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Saturday.
