Gwendolyn Minish Johnson

ans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Gwendolyn Minish Johnson, 88, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Madison County, Georgia a daughter of the late David Lee and Eva O'Kelley Minish. Mrs. Johnson retired as a Registered Nurse where she had worked at the Former BJC Medical Center in Commerce, Georgia and for Dr. Joe Griffith medical practice in Commerce, Georgia. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church for over 46 years. Mrs. Johnson was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Jackson County Meals on Wheels & the current President of the Minish Family Reunion.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hillyer T. Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Sunday September 2, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at Jefferson First united Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Laskey officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church from 2:00 until 3:00. She chose to donate her body to Emory for medical research.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Ronnie and Gloria Johnson, Adrian, Georgia, Daughter, Hilda Johnson Smith, Jefferson, Georgia, Son, Tommy and Alicia Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee, Grandchildren, Tim Johnson, Jay Johnson, John Johnson, Mathew Smith, Kelsey Smith, Wynn Smith, and Claire Johnson, Great Grandchildren, Addison Smith, Gavin Smith and Aubrey Smith, Sisters, Lessie Benton, Commerce, Georgia, Hallie Fitzpatrick, Danielsville, Georgia, Susie Davis, Danielsville, Georgia and Betty Brock, Danielsville, Georgia. and a number of other relatives.
