WC Orr

W.C. Orr, 91, of Lula, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 following a period of declining health. Born in Flowery Branch on January 28, 1921, he was the son of the late Anderson and Nora Henry Orr. He was retired from Hall County as a bus driver and from the maintenance shop. He loved farming. He ran the Oakwood Cannery. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He attended Oakwood Elementary School. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakwood.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Alton Orr and Ivan Orr; sister, Adelle Puckett; grandson, Jason Orr; great granddaughters, Caitlin Hulsey and Nicole Hulsey and son in law, Tony Savage.

Mr. Orr is survived by his wife of over 68 years Maudine Orr; sons and daughters in law, Jack and Joyce Orr, Billy and Karen Orr both of Oakwood, Bobby and Sandra Orr of Hoschton, Jimmy and Pam Orr of Oakwood, Andy and Michelle Orr of Buford; daughters and sons in law, Rachel and Jerry Bates of Franklin, N.C., Carolyn and Ed Hilton of Oakwood, Clara Savage of Oakwood, Martha and Bill Edge of Flowery Branch, Mary and Jimmy Rogers of Eastman, Kathy and Chuck Baugh of Lula; brother, Bonnie Gene Orr of Sugar Hill; sister, Allene Hitt of Dalton; 33 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at First Baptist Church Oakwood. Rev. Randall Reed will officiate. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
