Gloria Strother Gaines

Funeral services for Gloria Strother Gaines, age 74, of Mt. Airy will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 31, 2012 from Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Brian Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in the VFW Cemetery in Cornelia, Georgia.

Mrs. Gaines died August 29, 2012.

Born in Union, South Carolina on September 24, 1937, Mrs. Gaines was the daughter of the late Lewis T. and Angie Morrow Strother. Mrs. Gaines retired from Habersham County Board of Education after having served 32 years in education. Mrs. Gaines was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and embroidery.

Survivors include her husband Charles Gaines of Mount Airy, Georgia ; sister and brother in law Bonnie and George Lawrence of Union, South Carolina, sisters Nancy Strother of Miami, Florida, Mary Kate Raker of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jean Strother of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother in law Phillip and his wife Betty Ann Gaines; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
