J. C. Moore

Mr. J. C. Moore, age 89, of Gainesville, GA, formerly of Toccoa, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at his home.

Born November 24, 1922 in Stephens County, he was a son of the late William Hunter and Mary Elizabeth Terrell Moore and the widower of Dixie Ann Barrett Moore.

He owned and operated Moore Provision Company, was a member of Toccoa First Baptist Church, was a long time member, and served as exalted ruler of the Toccoa Elks Lodge.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jan Moore; a daughter, Libby Moore; a granddaughter, Kimberly Cantrell; a sister, Gertrude Cook;

two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Ila Todd, Ollie Smith, Marie Ward and Jeanette Childs; and brothers, Otis Moore and Don Moore.

A memorial service will be held at three o'clock Friday, August 31, 2012 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 1:30 until the service on Friday.
