George W. Sliger, age 88 of Demorest, passed away Monday, August 27, 2012.
Born in Boonsville, Arkansas on December 31, 1923, he was the son of the late George and Cora Sliger. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Gene Sliger; daughter, Georgia Fay Sliger; brothers, Sam, Pless, Hack and William Sliger.
Surviving are loving wife of 43 years, Emma Sliger of the home; daughter, Beverly Nation of Demorest; sons, Anthony and Barry Nation both of Demorest; eight grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 4:00 pm Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, American Legion Post #84 and the Georgia National Guard Funeral Honors.
The family will receive friends at Bethel Temple C. H. Church from noon until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
