Alma M. Samples

Obituary Date: Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Mrs. Alma M. Samples, age 89, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 after a period of declining health.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Bethelview United Methodist Church with Internment immediately following. The family will receive friends 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012 and Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at Ingram Funeral Home.

Mrs. Samples was a native of Cumming, Georgia. She was a lifelong member of Bethelview United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Cumming Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star. Above all else she loved her family, her church and her Goldenrods.


She was preceded in death by: her husband, Edwin Elijah Samples; parents, Grady and Corrie McGinnis; father and mother-in-law, Eli and Ethel Samples; son-in-law, Michael Cowart; son-in-law, John E. (Sonny) Buffington; brothers, George McGinnis, and John McGinnis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Ruth McGinnis, Henry and Billie McGinnis; sister, Ruby Day; brother-in-law, Royce Samples; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Irvin Evans and Ralph and Essie Lowery; brothers-in-law, Iverson Martin and Olan Chadwick.


Survivors include: daughters, Sara Woods Cowart of Ball Ground and Linda Samples Buffington of Gainesville; son-in-law Steve Woods of Austell; grandson, Joseph Woods and wife Sally of Cumming; granddaughters, Beth Buffington Weikel and husband David of Gillsville, Suzanne Evans and husband Bradley of Cumming, and Ginger Buffington Folger and husband Todd of Gainesville; great grandchildren, Alex, Austin, and Christopher Woods, Elizabeth, Maggie, and Bill Hood, Sarah and Rebecca Weikel, Dylan Evans, Zeke Henderson, Isabella, Kristia and Amber Folger; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Juanita McGinnis; sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Everett Taylor; brother-in-law Emmett Day; sisters-in-law, Imogene McGinnis, Helen McGinnis, Minta Chadwick and Athleen Murdock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Bethelview United Methodist Church, 4525 Bethelview Road, Cumming, Georgia 30040.
