Susan Gibson Hawkins

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Susan Gibson Hawkins, 76, of Athens, Georgia passed away Tuesday August 7, 2012.

Mrs. Hawkins was born in Jackson County, Georgia, a daughter of the late James Aubrey and Sallie Belle Dameron Gibson. Mrs. Hawkins retired from Winn-Dixie Grocery Stores as a Deli Manager. Mrs. Hawkins was a member at Attica Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles W. Hawkins brothers, Johnny and Jimmy Gibson and sisters Mary Lee and Jackie Reed.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Attica Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Purcell officiating . Her nephews will be honored as pallbearers. Interment will be in Attica Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday August 8, 2012 from 5-7 at the funeral home.

Survivors include her sons, William Aubrey Hawkins, Shady Dale, Ga., Charles W. Hawkins and wife Joni, Athens, Ga., sisters, Carol Dills, Jefferson, Ga., Nell Archer, Jefferson, Ga., Jean Morgan, Watkinsville, Ga., sister and brother in law, Faye and George Marcus, Norcross, Ga. and brother A.G. Gibson, Jefferson, Ga., and a number of other relatives.

Flowers are optional or donations may be made to Attica Baptist Church, 4352 Lebanon Church Road, Athens, Georgia 30607.
