Samuel Julius Threadgill Jr.

Obituary Date: Thursday, August 2, 2012
With his loving family gathered round him Samuel Julius Threadgill Jr (Sammy) died Thursday August 2, 2012 after an extended battle with cancer. He, an Atlanta native, grew up in Tucker, Georgia and graduated from Lakeside High School. He attended college with the intention of becoming a veterinarian. Instead, he became a leading Sales Professional, then later in life pursued his true vocational passion, golf. He played on the Sunbelt Senior Tour, was a member of Tour Life, and aspired to join the Champions Tour and start First Tee in North Georgia. He was a member of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Oakwood, Georgia and served as one of it's vestry members. He truly lived life with a passion. He laughed often and had a knack of making others laugh. He was well loved and had the gift "of never meeting a stranger". He believed in and appreciated the spirit of the world, of those around him, and the earth's beauty. He never failed to find the best in others or give the best of himself. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Dalton Threadgill, his sister, Susan A. Barnes, and his children, Samantha Christine Threadgill and John Daniel Threadgill, whom he loved more than life itself. A Celebration of Sam's Life will be held at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, 2920 Landrum Education Drive, Oakwood, Georgia 30566 (770-503-7555) at 3:00PM, Sunday, August 5, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www.fundraising.stjude.org/goto/SamThreadgill
