Milton Mays

Obituary Date: Tuesday, July 31, 2012
Rev. Milton Mays was born October 24, 1926 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mays. He departed this life Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. He was employed by First National bank for 51 years. A verteran of World War II he served on the Eastern front. He attended Hickory Grove School in Dahlonega and Beulah Rucker School in Gainesville. Rev. Mays served faithfully for 27 years as a pastor at St. Paul Athens-Royston Circuit, St. Mary-Royston, Rucker Grove, St. Paul-Commerce Circuit, Mt. Pleasant, Arnold Chapel, Rucker Grove, Trinity C.M.E. in Gainesville, and Hickory Gorve in Dahlonega. Rev. Mays taught Sunday school and reorganized the Usher's Ministry at Hickory Grove.

He is preceded in death by his brother Charlie B. Mays and son Charles Stanley Mays. He leaves to cherish his memory Dallas Mays his devoted wife of 47 years, sister Sylvia Earls, two sons Donald and Brian Eric Mays both of Dahlonega, one daughter Vickie DuCille of Marietta and James and Shanara Newton; five grandchildren: Mario (Chesterlyn) Mays of Duluth, GA, Alicia Nat 'e Smith of Marietta, Carmen Mays and Jasmine Mays of Gainesville, GA, Skylar DuCille of Cleveland, GA, nine great-grandchildren, sister -in-law Ethel Lou Mays, daughter -in-law Debra Mays of Richmond, Indiana and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Homegoing Services will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11am at Hickory Grove CME Church in Dahlonega, GA. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Wimberly & Jackson from 6-7pm. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home.
