Dorothy Helen Overdorff

Dorothy Helen Overdorff, 93, formerly from Indiana, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Bell Minor Home, Gainesville, GA.



Born February 10, 1919 in Blairsville, PA, Helen was married to Paul Royden Overdorff of Brush Valley, PA in 1938. Helen was a graduate of Indiana State Teachers College, taught for schools in Pennsylvania and Maryland and after moving to Phoenix, Arizona, together with Paul, owned and operated a day care center. In 2001 Helen moved to Gainesville, GA to be near family. Helen had a passion for cooking, for being a good neighbor and friend, and dearly loved her husband and family.



Helen was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Clara Clawson, her husband, Paul, in 1991 and her sister Irene C. Schuler of Washington, DC. She is survived by her children, Richard Ward Overdorff, Huntington Beach, California; Gary Paul Overdorff, Zanesville, Ohio; Randall Lee Overdorff, Gainesville, Georgia; and Joy Ann Amos, Gainesville, Georgia; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.



Helen will be buried next to her husband at Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, PA. Interment will be Saturday, August 18 at 11:00 a.m. Friends are welcome to join the family at graveside. Robinson-Lytle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
