Helen Hamby

Helen Hamby, 87, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday July 31, 2012 at Embracing Hospice following a period of declining health.

Born October 25, 1924 in Glenmary, Tennessee to the late James and Fannie Bell McKinney, she had lived in Dawson County since 1985 having moved from Cobb County. Mrs. Hamby was employed at the Dairy Queen for 11 years and was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Hamby; son, Kirby Hamby; and several sisters and brothers.

Surviving are her children, Steve and Cindy Hamby, Dawsonville, Etta Cobb, Dawsonville; sister, June Webb, Oneida, TN; grandchildren, Jimmy Hamby, Tim Hamby, Madeline Small, McKenzie Hamby; great grandchildren, Josiah Hamby, Abigail Hamby, Karley Hamby, and Karson Hamby.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 at Bearden Funeral Home after which Mrs. Hamby will be taken to Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright, TN for funeral services and interment in the Griffith Cemetery.
